About Us

Just 5 miles from Keeneland, Hunter Valley Farm is ideally located on 200 acres of picturesque, limestone-rich land in Versailles, KY. Purchased in 2004 from MASTEY de Paris CEO, Henri Mastey, HVF (formerly Golden Gate Stud) is a relative new-comer to central KY’s world-famous thoroughbred industry, but it’s already made a name for itself as a strong and reliable consignor, breeder and boarding farm.

Owned by four Irish natives – Fergus Galvin, Tony Hegarty, Adrian Regan and John Wade – HVF and their sales agency started with a bang, introducing themselves at Fasig-Tipton’s July 2005 Yearling Sale, then pinhooking MGSW Scat Daddy at Keeneland’s September 2005 Yearling Sale. In the few years since, Hunter Valley has cheered on 2 sales graduates in the Kentucky Derby and bred, foaled, raised, prepped and/or sold numerous notable horses, including A to the Croft, Bushfire, Desert Party, Holiday Runner, Proceed Bee and Seventh Street.

“I suppose people know that we work hard outside the barn and we represent everybody the same, I think that’s been recognized, and more and more people are entrusting us to sell their horses, which is really appreciated.”

- Adrian Regan

“I think the very first yearling we put through the ring was Scat Daddy himself. He’s sort of been our poster child of sorts, so it wasn’t a bad way to start off your initial venture into the horse business. What he went on to accomplish certainly stuck with our name a little bit, so to speak, and we also sold No Nay Never, although he was a weanling. Those two horses in themselves are great advertisement for the farm. It’s a few moons now, but it doesn’t seem that long ago.”

- Fergus Galvin
